Green Statement
We also are committed to purchasing our veneers and lumber from vendors who are certified to be Hoosier timber. Being certified as Hoosier timber, verifies that they are utilizing legally harvested timber. Those companies are also required to be actively participating in a positive effect on timber growth. This is a must to continue the sustainability of Indiana’s forest resources. In many parts of the world timber is being illegally harvested, hurting forests and by extension, the timber industry itself. More information on legally harvested timber and the sustainability of forest resources in Indiana can be found at http://www.in.gov/dnr/forestry/. The particleboard that we use is an Environmentally Preferable Product (EPP). EPP-certified products contain 100% recycled and recovered wood waste or fiber generated from wood residue including sawdust and shavings. Jasper Desk uses corrugated packaging products that contain post consumer product in it. The average corrugated box we use is comprised of about 43% recovered fibers. The air quality from our plant is in compliance with EPA regulations. The finish materials that we use are designed to have very low VOC emissions. We also have a downdraft finish booth that eliminates the amount of chemicals that escape the spray booth and forces the air to use the filtration system. We continually look for ways to improve our manufacturing processes that would make Jasper Desk more environmental friendly. The longevity and durability that we design and manufacture in to our office furniture products allow their use for many years. |

Jasper Desk takes pride in being part of our community. We are concerned about our environment around us and make a concentrated effort to be good stewards of our lands. We have several board members who own land and take pride in managing their timberlands in a sustainable way. We burn in our boilers all of our wood-waste, as well as take waste from other local companies to keep it from going into the landfill. We use this to heat our dry kilns and finish ovens, as well as heat during the winter months.
